Dave Walker’s road so far – diversity, honesty and balance.
He has been smashing stages like The Espy and Cherry Bar as founding member and guitarist in Dirty Oz rockers Destroy She Said over the last six years and he’s just finished recording his new album, Fake Hotel with a fabulous seven piece band and 12 killer songs.
Sang and played to a packed house with Celtic Country band Shanakee at last year’s Port Fairy Folk Festival. Guest artist on lead guitar at the Rock for Doc benefit. Phillip Island Moto GP. Berwick Folk Club, Lomond Hotel, Revolver Upstairs. Chalk and cheese. Late nights, load ins, sticky leads. He loves it all. Every bit of it.
Fill out this form in block letters. Occupation? Musician. Writing, performing, recording, sharing, learning, growing. Committed and dedicated.
He’s been in the music industry for nearly 20 years and has served a fair apprenticeship. Six years as a journalist prior to that. Got sick of taking and decided to start giving.
Toured Australia and Asia in different projects.
Sound guy – engineered and crewed with a lot of great Australian acts. Took it all in. Absorbed every nuance, saw the great, the good and the ordinary.
Played on at least 20 studio albums at last count. Lost count.
Played bass for a time; blues at the St Andrews Hotel. Two instrumental albums with some Fitzroy groovers that wound up on Neighbours and had the APRA rolling in for a time.
Fronted the alt-country band, Blue Moon Lodge, made an album in 2008 and played it at Apollo Bay MF and Gympie Muster.
Fake Hotel is another destination on the road. Story songs, great grooves and hooky, melodic choruses.
Narrow the focus, do that which makes you happy.
Play guitar. Sing songs. Make music.
